Book Review: Sweep of the Blade (Innkeeper Chronicles #4) – Ilona Andrews

Rating: 5/5 🌟🌟🌟🌟🌟

Genre: Urban Fantasy, Paranormal Romance

Review:

What did I think of this book? My reaction – Oh my God, I can’t believe I didn’t read this book the moment it was released! That’s how good this story was.

I first met Arland the Vampire in the Innkeeper Chronicles and he was such an intriguing character, I wanted to know more about him. Then Maud and her daughter Helen appeared in the picture and he was a goner. Arland asked her to marry him but she refused. Still, she accepted his invitation to come to his homeland and see if they could make it work. Continue reading “Book Review: Sweep of the Blade (Innkeeper Chronicles #4) – Ilona Andrews”

Book Review: Origins (Alphas 0.5) – Ilona Andrews

Rating: 4/5 🌟🌟🌟🌟

Genre: Urban Fantasy, Paranormal Romance

Review:

You think you’re normal, living an ordinary life and then you get thrown into the twilight zone where monsters are real and everything you knew about the world and life and who you are – none of that is real. Karina was a normal mom, on her way home with a van of children when an unexpected detour sent her world into chaos and terror. Continue reading “Book Review: Origins (Alphas 0.5) – Ilona Andrews”

Book Review: Silver Shark (Kinsmen #2) – Ilona Andrews

Rating: 5/5 🌟🌟🌟🌟🌟

Genre: Urban Fantasy, Paranormal Romance, Sci-fi

Review:

This book was in one word – Fantastic. I loved the notion of the Kinsmen with their countless abilities and the dynamics between the different families in power. The rules of engagement were intriguing and set the Kinsmen apart from normal people.

The world-building was fascinating and so well-written , I could imagine it all in my mind with the vividness depicted in the scenes. Continue reading “Book Review: Silver Shark (Kinsmen #2) – Ilona Andrews”

Book Review: Iron and Magic (The Iron Covenant #1) – Ilona Andrews

Rating: 4/5 🌟🌟🌟🌟

Genre: Urban Fantasy, Paranormal Romance

Review:

Hugh D’Ambray made a fantastic villain in the Kate Daniels series so of course I was interested in his story. He was an enigmatic character and I was intrigued to find out how Roland had made him his Warlord. Who was Hugh really? Why had he done the things he had? Where was he now? Iron and Magic answers all those questions. Continue reading “Book Review: Iron and Magic (The Iron Covenant #1) – Ilona Andrews”

Book Review: Steel’s Edge (The Edge #4) – Ilona Andrews

Rating: 5/5 🌟🌟🌟🌟🌟

Genre: Urban Fantasy, Paranormal Romance

Review:

I loved the first book in The Edge series but I didn’t like book 2 and 3 all that much. So I started this book without expectations. I figured only book 1 had been great. But I was pleasantly surprised when Steel’s Edge turned out to be wonderful.

From the first page, I loved Charlotte. She had been through so much and she had retained her dignity. She was strong and I emphasized with her over her troubles. Life’s not fair and the majority of people are self-serving, only interested in what they can get. Charlotte had to learn that painful lesson and she didn’t let it beat her down.

And Richard. OMG, I definitely had major crush on him. He was such a scarred, quiet man and when I envisioned him as a young Clint Eastwood, battered by life and trying to do the right thing. Plus, he was gorgeous. I absolutely adored him.

There was so much I loved about this story. The main characters and seeing the ones from the previous books—George, Jack and Sophie—the kids grown up and with their own troubled thoughts.

The scenes between Charlotte and Richard were meaningful and I loved the chemistry between them. As Ilona Andrews’ trademark, there were action-packed scenes, some filled with fun and awesomeness. There was one scene that was my favorite—when Richard finally told Charlotte how he felt about her. It was so funny and tugged at the heartstrings at the same time. Steel’s Edge was excellent.

Synopsis: The Edge lies between worlds, on the border between the Broken, where people shop at Wal-Mart and magic is a fairy tale—and the Weird, where blueblood aristocrats rule, changelings roam, and the strength of your magic can change your destiny… Charlotte de Ney is as noble as they come, a blueblood straight out of the Weird. But even though she possesses rare magical healing abilities, her life has brought her nothing but pain. After her marriage crumbles, she flees to the Edge to build a new home for herself. Until Richard Mar is brought to her for treatment, and Charlotte’s life is turned upside down once again. Richard is a swordsman without peer, future head of his large and rambunctious Edger clan—and he’s on a clandestine quest to wipe out slavers trafficking humans in the Weird. Book Review: On the Edge (The Edge #1) – Ilona Andrews

Rating: 5/5 🌟🌟🌟🌟🌟

Genre: Urban Fantasy, Paranormal Romance

Review:

When I started this book, I was on an overdose of books by Ilona Andrews. Innkeeper Chronicles, Kate Daniels, Hidden Legacy. The Edge series couldn’t be as good, could they? Surely not. And yet, from the moment I started On The Edge, I was hooked. The first few pages were enough to send me into a spiral of curiosity to know more about Rose and The Edge. Book Review: Shades of Wicked (Night Rebel #1) by Jeaniene Frost

Rating: 5/5 🌟🌟🌟🌟🌟

Genre: Urban Fantasy, Paranormal Romance

Review:

“The worst part was knowing no one cared enough to save you. That’s what you remember forever. Not the physical pain or the never-ending fear, but the despair of being utterly alone and knowing you’ll die that way. Ever been lost like that?”

It’s been ages since I last read a Jeaniene Frost book but when I saw there was a new series out featuring one of my favorite characters from the Night Huntress series – Ian, I knew I had to read it. And boy, did that turn out to be a great decision! Continue reading “Book Review: Shades of Wicked (Night Rebel #1) by Jeaniene Frost”

Book Review: Wildfire (Hidden Legacy #3) – Ilona Andrews

Rating: 5/5 🌟🌟🌟🌟🌟

Genre: Urban Fantasy, Paranormal Romance

Review:

This series couldn’t get any better, right? But it did! Nevada had a new huddle in her path, I should say, two new huddles that threatened her relationship with Rogan and also a fast-approaching threat looming on the horizon over her family. Tough decisions to make, heads to roll, asses to kick. Choices, choices. Continue reading “Book Review: Wildfire (Hidden Legacy #3) – Ilona Andrews”

Book Review: White Hot (Hidden Legacy #2) – Ilona Andrews

Rating: 5/5 🌟🌟🌟🌟🌟

Genre: Urban Fantasy, Paranormal Romance

Review:

The moment I finished Burn For Me, I couldn’t wait to dive into White Hot. If I’d thought the sparks to fly off the page between Nevada and Mad Rogan in book 1, they totally exploded in book 2. The intensity between the two main characters was off the charts and made for excellent romantic tension.

Just writing the review is making me want to read the book again, that’s how much I loved it. Continue reading “Book Review: White Hot (Hidden Legacy #2) – Ilona Andrews”
