Saturday Stars – 14 April 2018 – Tenaka Khan

I feel like a total narcoleptic. I keep yawning a lot and all I wanna do is sleep, sleep, sleep. Add in my dilemma – at night I turn into an insomniac. Oh, boy. Talk about a quandary. I get to sleep in tomorrow, so it’s all good. 🙂

For this Saturday, I’m playing Eenie, Meeny, Miny, Moe about which character to star. Then I looked over my list of previous stars and I was surprised that I haven’t featured my beloved Tenaka Khan yet. Continue reading “Saturday Stars – 14 April 2018 – Tenaka Khan”

Book Review: Quest For Lost Heroes (The Drenai Saga #11) – David Gemmell

Rating: 4/5 Stars

Genre: Fantasy, Adventure

Review:

I started this book with a pang in my heart because I knew that my favorite half-Nadir, half-Drenai, Tenaka Khan was dead. His son was now the Khan of the Nadir and his daughter, Tanaki, exiled. Having conquered the Drenai, the Nadir were now the ruling nation in power. Continue reading “Book Review: Quest For Lost Heroes (The Drenai Saga #11) – David Gemmell”

Book Review: The King Beyond The Gate (The Drenai Saga #10) – David Gemmell

Rating: 4/5 Stars

Genre: Fantasy, Adventure

Review:

I was super nervous when I started The King Beyond The Gate. You see, I read this book 10 years ago and the hero, Tenaka Khan was my first experience of a larger than life warrior. I absolutely loved him. So I had all these expectations and I started it with the worry, “Would this book be as amazing as it’d been the first time?” When I read it the first time, I was much younger and I worried that my older self wouldn’t be as impressed by Tenaka Khan as my younger self had been. I didn’t want a bitter disillusionment. Continue reading “Book Review: The King Beyond The Gate (The Drenai Saga #10) – David Gemmell”

Book Review: Legend (The Drenai Saga #9) – David Gemmell

Review:

At last, the famous battle at Dros Delnoch. The last stand of Druss the Legend. Reading the chronicles of Druss, there are so many battles in which he fought, the most memorable one being beside the Nadir. And now, Ulric, the leader of the Nadir, the one who had united all the tribes together, was at the walls of Dros Delnoch, intent of conquering the Drenai. Book Review: The Legend of Deathwalker (The Drenai Saga #7) – David Gemmell

Rating: 4/5 Stars

Genre: Fantasy, Adventure

Review:

We find Druss battling the Nadir on the walls of Dros Delnoch and his mind goes back to the past and the events which led to him fighting beside the Nadir. Druss’s search for his wife Rowena led him to become the lethal fighter he turned into, more comfortable with violence and death than a peaceful life. Book Review: Hero in the Shadows (The Drenai Saga #5, Waylander #3) – David Gemmell

Review:

Hero In The Shadows is the finale of the Waylander trilogy. I started this book with a bittersweet pang. Waylander’s my favorite character from the David Gemmell books and I didn’t want his story to end. Book Review: In the Realm of the Wolf (The Drenai Saga #4, Waylander #2) – David Gemmell

Rating: 5/5 Stars

Genre: Fantasy, Adventure

Review:

In The Realm of The Wolf is the second book in the Waylander Trilogy. In the first book, we saw how Waylander was saved. He left to live his life with Danyal and the two little girls. I wondered what he would be like, as a husband and a father. He was prepared to live his life in peace but could he learn to let go of his bloody past? Alas, Fate was once again determined to drag him back into the violence and death he’d left behind. Book Review: Waylander – David Gemmell

Rating: 4/5 Stars

Genre: Fantasy, Adventure

Review:

This is the first book introducing the dark and deadly assassin, Waylander. I liked him from the start. I guess mostly because I have a soft spot for tortured anti-heroes. Waylander wasn’t a hero, no. In fact, he’s the living embodiment of the saying “No Good Deed Goes Unpunished.” Continue reading “Book Review: Waylander – David Gemmell”

Book Review: Morningstar – David Gemmell

Rating: 5/5 Stars

Genre: Fantasy, Adventure

Review:

Well, this was different. This second book in the chronological list of the Drenai series was told from the point of view of a bard, Owen Odell, rather than from the omniscient POV I’d become used to from David Gemmell. I have to admit I was curious what the story would be like. Continue reading “Book Review: Morningstar – David Gemmell”
