ARC Book Review: Hideaway – Nora Roberts

Rating: 5/5 🌟🌟🌟🌟🌟

Genre: Contemporary Romance, Suspense

Review:

Hideaway is the story of Cate Sullivan, the prodigy of a famous Hollywood family. She is kidnapped as a child and that trauma, with its underlying hurtful revelations, ripples throughout her life, re-shaping it from what could have to what can be, disrupting her set path, affecting not just her but her entire family and that of Dillon Cooper’s and forcing her to turn into a new direction.

I have to say upfront, I couldn’t believe it when I was lucky enough to get approved for the ARC of this book. Nora Roberts is my favorite author in the world. Her books saved my life, shaped my future and I can’t thank her enough for her stories. So I was over the moon when I got the ARC. My first ever Nora Roberts ARC! I was both excited and terrified to read Hideaway. The excited part is easy to understand but dread because, what if I hated the book? Or what if the story didn’t speak to me? My principles wouldn’t allow me to give a less than honest opinion. I can’t in good faith ever fake a positive review when I don’t like the book. But thankfully, my fears turned out to be groundless. Book Review: Reborn Yesterday – Tessa Bailey

Rating: 5/5 🌟🌟🌟🌟🌟

Review:

Ginny Lynn was an ordinary woman, albeit with a not-so-normal job as a funeral home director, a job that alienated her from other women, leaving her to lead a solitary life without friends. She started her night shift same as every night, with a dead body on her embalming table. Until the dead body opened his eyes and sat up, turning her life upside down. A Chinese girl stuck in the land of the white during a time when racism and ethnic inequalities featured amongst the worst damaging human traits in history. Jo Kuan found a way to cope but the path she set herself on was fraught with perils and navigating it could mean more danger than mere exposure. Genre: Contemporary Romance, Rom-Com

Review:

It’s Halloween and what better book review to post today than one about the supernatural? Slay All Day is a paranormal romance (PNR), a highly anticipated book for me ever since I learned Cynthia Eden would be releasing it in October.

Harrison Key is a hunter. He hunts monsters and that’s his life in a nutshell. Then one night he ends up saving Elise Aine from vampires, a woman who’s supposedly an innocent but has a secret agenda of her own. Continue reading “Book Review: Slay All Day – Cynthia Eden”

Book Review: Coraline – Neil Gaiman

Rating: 5/5 🌟🌟🌟🌟🌟

Genre: Dark Fantasy, Middle-Grade

Review:

Yes, I finally read Coraline! And I loved it. Super lazy Sunday with a gray wintry weather—perfect day for a spooky story. So I decided it was high time I read Coraline, the story of a little girl who found a locked door with a bricked wall behind it, a door that led to nowhere, in the new flat she and her parents had moved in. Actually, the door led somewhere which she found out much to her misfortune.

Manga Review: Omae Watashi no Koto Suki Daro (You Like Me Don’t You?) by Izumi Tsubaki

Rating: 5/5 🌟🌟🌟🌟🌟

Genre: Manga, Rom-Com

Review:

Do you read manga? If no, why not? 😉 You really should. In my opinion, it’s one of the best remedies for stress. Omae Watashi no Koto Suki Daro is the short story of a strong-headed girl in high school, Nahoko Misaki, who believes a certain boy, Aikawa, has feelings for her. However, though they’ve known each other for 3 years, Aikawa has yet to make a move. So Nahoko decides to take matters in her own hands and create situations to give Aikawa the ‘opportunity’ to confess. Yes, I know, we girls are sneaky and underhanded lol.

Book Review: The Graveyard Book – Neil Gaiman

Rating: 5/5 🌟🌟🌟🌟🌟

Genre: Middle Grade Fantasy, Horror

Review:

Some stories reach out and grab you and refuse to let go. The Graveyard Book was one such story and my first journey into Neil Gaiman’s world. A young child’s entire family is killed and only the boy survives. However, the killer is still out there and determined to find the boy and erase him as well. Some angel must have been watching over the boy as he is found by ghosts and raised in a graveyard. They name him Nobody Owens and so starts the boy’s life.

Neil Gaiman’s writing was so good. From the first page, I enjoyed his words, the way the sentences flowed with an underlying wit that snuck up on you at times and made you smile and with an intensity for deep, grave moments that got to your heart and made you feel sad.
