I feel like a total narcoleptic. I keep yawning a lot and all I wanna do is sleep, sleep, sleep. Add in my dilemma – at night I turn into an insomniac. Oh, boy. Talk about a quandary. I get to sleep in tomorrow, so it’s all good. 🙂
For this Saturday, I’m playing Eenie, Meeny, Miny, Moe about which character to star. Then I looked over my list of previous stars and I was surprised that I haven’t featured my beloved Tenaka Khan yet.

Saturday Star: Tenaka Khan
Book/Series: The King Beyond The Gate – David Gemmell
Tenaka Khan was my first experience of a larger than life warrior. I absolutely loved him. He’s half-Drenai, half-Nadir, shunned by both races. It was hard for him to live on the brink of two worlds, to be hated by his people because of his mixed blood. I felt such empathy for Tenaka Khan.
He wasn’t the flawless hero I’d imagined him to be all those years ago. In typical David Gemmell fashion, he was an anti-hero, with his flaws and issues. And he was also a decent man, with kindness and a nobility of spirit, and he changed the fate of the Nadir by uniting all the tribes as one nation.
I don’t know why Tenaka Khan got such a grip on my heart but he still has it. 🙂
I hope you all have that special character who holds such a place in your heart. Happy Saturday.
